All Animal Hospital knows that regular checkups and wellness exams are critical to your pet’s health and well-being. Due to the shorter lifespan of both dogs and cats, having yearly check-ups plays a big role in helping them thrive for a maximum number of years.
These exams give us a chance to evaluate the overall health of your pet so that we can look for any changes and detect potential problems before they become serious. They also give us a chance to get to know you, your pet, and their needs on a personal level.
Dogs and cats also need routine parasite control to keep fleas, ticks, intestinal parasite, and heartworms away. These parasites can spread disease and cause serious illness, which Is why year-round parasite prevention is so important in our area.
The complete wellness exam
During your dog or cat's wellness exam, one of our veterinarians will do a thorough physical exam of your pet, including:
- Examine the eyes, teeth, and ears
- Listen to the respiratory system and heart
- Inspect the coat and fur
- Move joints and muscles
- Discuss bloodwork for a baseline
- Administer needed vaccinations
- Perform a heartworm test and fecal float
Vaccines for dogs and cats
Vaccine are a critical part in your your pet's health and well-being. For puppies and kittens, it is especially important to be vaccinated because their immune system is immature, and they are more susceptible to many diseases at a young age.
We will ask you some important questions regarding your pet, their environment, any places you intend to take them. Once we get this information, we'll make a customized vaccination plan for your pet to keep them healthy!
